Santa Barbara and Corcovado

Santa Barbara might make a better base for expeditions than Chaiten town as it's slightly closer but note it's more a collection of houses than a village. I would guess for supplies people just go into Chaiten anyway. There's a nice long beach but you might find it full of horse flies. View of Morro Vilcún in the top picture at the end of the beach, supposedly it's a volcano and related to both Chaiten and Michinmauida. View of the Corcovado volcano in the bottom picture, as I recall you need a boat to get there. Maybe I was told that by a guy who had a boat though.
