Had a little difficulty finding it, but I got it! This ended a trip that involved bagging six highpoints in one weekend!
The place was kind of messy. The sign was destroyed. Other than that I was glad I could mark it off my list. No view from the top. It was my 2 yo. daughters first high point (she got Brasstown and Clingmans after this one).
Only hiked .3 mile along the Foothills Trail.
I (with my wife (Tracy) and son (Alex), then almost 3 yrs old) did this as part of our second family HP trip. Not much of a view!
I did this with my wife and son while we were on our way to Hilton Head. Very humid and really not much of a view. More interesting to see it from the road side.
Wow. I don't have much to say about this one. Time for some clean up.
I was short on time, so I did it the quick and boring way - walked up from the gate at the end of the road. The sun was setting, and there were a number of mosquitos trying to get a taste of me. The round trip from my hotel in Greenville took me about 2.5 hours.
Couldn't see views at all, since it was rainy and extremely foggy. Anyway, it's crossed off the list. They need a sign or something telling people it's the highest point of SC. Pretty lame. Even my Indiana highpoint has a sign!
Climbed the mountain via the Foothills Trail from Chimneytop Gap on April 12, 2008. I was pretty impressed with the type of terrain that characterized the mountain on the hike up. I was not expecting that in South Carolina. It was fairly steep and remote. Enjoyed the area. Visited again after proposing to my girlfriend, but this time we drove up. We were heading back to Atlanta after climbing some sixers in the Pisgah National Forest.
HAD SOME TROUBLE FINDING IT, BUT A RURAL MAILMAN WAS THE PERFECT SOLUTION
Drove over from Gatlinburg, drove up, saw the HP. Stopped by a few North Carolina waterfalls along the way to break up the drive.
Climbed in the heat. Luckily not too long....
Easy hike from U.S. 178. Lots of wildflowers.
This peak is quite a ways from anywhere I might normally visit, but that's what makes highpointing fun!
You got that right!!
Lots of Bees, Lots of bush , Lots of Nothing.
Not much to it, but crossed off the list
Very short hike, but still better than a day at work.
A little trouble finding it but we finally got there. Please go to http://50summits.blogspot.com for a complete report.
