Started from Seathwaite and the Stockely Bridge, before ascending via Styhead Tarn and the Corridor Route. Descended via the plateau between Broad Crag & Ill Crag, before rounding Great End and proceeding down the Esk Hause col. However, neither these peaks, nor an ascent of Scafell made due to illness in a member of our party.
Glorious weather, stunning views and popular but not overcrowded.
This was the third checkpoint on the Borrowdale race. Covered in fog.
once via corridor route from Seathwaite; once from Wasdale Head, Piers Gill then Lingmell, then Scafell Pike.
A gloriously fine day and four of us climbed Scafell Pike via the Corridor Route to celebrate Derick's 70th birthday - he had climbed the Pike for his 60th - roll on the 80th birthday! Colin, Bernard, Gerry and Derick
over the years and under all conditions...
With my Irish mate Colm. Lord's Rake - Scafell - Broad Stand - Scafell Pike. Broad Stand ropeless downclimb a wee bit scary on wet rock but fun. Pints were had at Wasdale Head where we also camped the night.
Did a circular route going up Lingmell Beck, and coming back down Lingmell Gill in late afternoon. The weather was partly to mostly cloudy with fast moving clouds at about 900m, which made for some very dramactic light. Unfortunately the pub in Wasdale head stopped serving dinner right when I got back at 8:30pm
Climbed it twice to far. Both via the Corridor Route from Sprinklng Tarn or Borrowdale. First time was an ordeal in heavy rain and fatigue from a sleepless night. Did it in glorious sunshine the second time round. A fitting crown to England, every inch a mountain. Head to the superior Ill or Broad crag to linger in solitude and escape the crowds.
Rain from sty head onwards - the corridor route was misty!
Climbed from Eskdale, a beautiful hike and great views from the top.
On a fantastic clear day. Scrambled up Ill Crag from Eskdale, up over Scafell Pike, on to Scafell via Broad Stand then back down the south ridge. A fantastic day with views from the Mull of Galloway to the Three Peaks.
Also sometime in 1991, up via Mickledore and down via corridor route.
Climbed with Scafell a few years ago - great mountain with lots of other good stuff nearby
Done it a few times....I like the corridoor route.
Climbed Scafell Pike a few times over the years by various routes and weathers. Always a joy and good fun.
Climbed via Hollow Stones and Mickledore, Broad Crag, Dropping Crag, the Corridor Route. Good weather and bad...
Great place indeed!
tried a route from Brotherikeld farm along the River Esk - Scar Lathing - Great Moss - Esk Hause - Ill Crag (great views from here) - Scafell Pike
My wife and I climbed this while she was 3 months pregnant and in the throes of morning sickness. We had a good time though, we took a wrong turn near the summit and ended up scrambling up a gulley but we made the summit in really foggy conditions and were blessed with some sunshine on the way out.
Did this and Scafell on the same day
Climbed in the mist, great day out. Navigation is much more interesting in the mist!
