Scene of the Red Queen

And the red Queen was waiting for the news, For the white King to move; And the balance hung upon the head of one who tried, To stay within the shadows And keep his undercover secret tight. (Pink Floyd - 1970) This is the view looking across the mouth of Oak Creek Canyon at the formations that make up Mitten Ridge. The bulky formation (to the right) is called Pointed Dome. Many people believe the formation to the left (east) of Pointed Dome is called Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria is NOT to be confused with the Queen of Hearts, who's known for yelling, "Off with their heads!" in the classic book Alice in Wonderland. Queen Victoria is rated a delicate three-pitch 5.9, with an excellent chimney route going up its east side. Please allow at least 45 minutes for the approach time from the TH-parking on Schnebly Hill Road. (For all you ice cream lovers, there's a Dairy Queen located about 3 miles up the road from where this picture was taken !) December 31, 2009

Happy New Year 2 you 2, Twins!

That would be the one off the "Zabriskie Point" soundtrack album released in February 1970.

Here's a blue's cut from the album ...

My my! That was 40 years ago ...
