Scrambling the West Ridge route of West McMillan Spire in North Cascades National Park, WA. Jim Nelson hits the nail on the head in his book when he says that the route has "3rd class rock that feels more like 4th class." Rock quality seemed to be better the steeper it got. September 15, 2009.
