Re: Very good
Thanks - it definitely is a wonderful route. Though most likely I would do it differently now that I know it:
Col de Varda - Forcella di Misurina - Cadin della Neve
Forcella della Neve, Sentiero Durissini across the eastern Forcellas into Val de le Cianpedele
Then Sentiero Bonacossa Nord.
It's definitely on my list ( maybe next year ), I've been many times in the area but I climbed only one route in the Cadini group, the via ferrata Merlone ( "the flying ladders" ).
Thanks again. It took ten years for me to get to the inside of the Cadini Group. Thankfully I went there twice in perfect weather. It makes life so much easier if you want to take pictures ...
I did the northern half of the trail on July 6 this year (2010). Aside from the protected sections (which are easy and well designed), the trail is represented by a dashed line on the local maps, as opposed to the supposedly more difficult dotted lines (such as the trail to the summit of Pitz Boe, an easy and non-exposed scramble). A word of caution here: the trail is for extended sections narrow, of questionable footing (loose scree, such as that used to plug washouts), and very (!) exposed. In addition there was on the day I did this a steep, unprotected snow gulley to be crossed, and two snow fields on the way up to the Fonda Savio refuge...the top one which I avoided by some scrambling on the side. Would have felt better had I brought my ice ax/ crampons.
However, a lovely area and an interesting experience.

Re: Great route! Thanks a lot. We were blessed with perfect weather in the Cadini. In most of the other places we were not as lucky :-(
