Sentinel - Chouinard-Herbert -
Many of the original (1962) and other accumulated old bolts were replaced in an ASCA sponsored effort in Sept. 2005
Unfortunately many of the old holes were drilled in a downward direction, rendering them useless for 3/8" redrilling.
Not all old bolts were pulled or chopped at the time, so old bolts may still be encountered on the route, but ASCA bolts offer an alternative.
The old anchor in this particular picture is on top of Chessman Pinnacle. Both old bolts were removed and the holes patched.
Note that over the years other bolts have been added and old ones replaced. A 1993 picture of the anchor on top of Chessman Pinnacle shows old 1/4" bolts in different locations.
