Shaggy Pholiota

Shaggy Pholiota

Shaggy Pholiota ( Pholiota squarrosa) is a parasite mushroom living at the base of old trees. It is covered in characteristic triangular brown scales. The cap flesh is very pale yellow, and it is quite firm. There are about 30 species of Pholiota squarrosa and they all look very similar. Some consider this mushroom edible. It tastes (and smells) like radishes. The Low Beskid - Mount Zabia - September 23, 2007
