that is indeed striking! Let's just hope that you are right. I read somewhere about "freak years" in the 50's in Iran but I don't recall where. The difference on Damavand this year was quite prominent also! The heat this year was pushing my tolerance limit...
This patter with increasing amplitudes is probable going to become more frequent but hopefully still the exception.

The altitude was perhaps a bit to low also lower range of 3000 m.

Indeed,spring of 2008 was a very hot and dry one.
