Shall I go left or right?

At the of the Pollestal I came to this marker. Based on my map, I had expected a junction, with the left trail leading to the Pollesferner, a tiny glacier, and the right one to the Nördliches Pollesjoch, a high saddle on the Geigenkamm ridge. It was a bit strange to see this though, because only a little higher, everything was still covered with snow, and until quite recently, this rock must have been invisible too. It just goes to show that, although there are lots of signs and markers all over the Alps, you can't always rely on them. I went to the right. 30 June 2012.
