After surpassing a lot of people, we were alone at the top. Descend to Marzellkamm.
I climbed this peak on a beautiful cool sunny morning. It is neither difficult nor far from the Similaun Hut from which I started. Because it was a weekend, many other people had the same idea. Even so it was a worthwhile climb.
We climbed Similaun during an "Ice Course" of DAV section "Schwaben" from Martin-Busch-Hütte.
It's quite easy (hiking trail on snow :-), only the last few meters are very steep. Nevertheless I panted like an old steam engine!
Yes - we really were on two following days on the summit. On the 1st day we went to the top because we thought that the weather will be bad next day - It wasn't so we climbed up again from the similaun hut ;)
a nice mountain. i climbed it from similaunhutte, takes about two hours. two parts of rope going, and a short piece of walking with cramps, and a nice summit with beautiful weather.
Must have been 1978 when we did this nice ski route.
Crampons sometimes (certainly in summer) helpfull for the final traverse.
This was my first glacier mountain. Done with a group from the german alpine club. After snowfall it was cold and stormy but with clear sky.
Last ski-tour in the season. Required carrying the skis almost all the way up to the hut, walking in skishoes. We had planned to do the Hintere Schwaerze also, but the weather was bad. It was so foggy, we only saw the summit-cross immediately before we actually reached it. I don't have any idea what the view from up there is like. ;)
Just an easy glacier walk from Similaun Hut. Beautiful views in all directions, esp. impressive the view of the Ortler Group
A nice tour in a beautiful region. Simply pleasure.
