Snake

Snake

April 22, 2012 This guy was coiled up sitting by the trail. I did not even see it. As I walked by, I was suddenly startled by its rattling. By the time I took the camera out, he had begun to move away.

That one...

has a hell of a rattle! Usually the buttons break off before they get that long! (Well...at least here in the east.)

Re: That one...

Thank you Bob,

Although I have done a fair amount of hiking in the southwest, this was the first time that I came face to face with a big snake. The odd thing was that the next day, I came across another snake.

I'm thinking...

dinner!

Lose the head, keep the rattler, feast on the meat.

Re: I'm thinking...

They say it tastes just like chicken. Does it?

Re: I'm thinking...

Have to confess, never had snake, but had alligator meat. It's a little gamy, but if done right it could taste like chicken.

But seriously, if I found myself out there hungry, I wouldn't dream of letting this guy get away.

Re: I'm thinking...

I had some once--many years ago at a restaurant in Atlanta that served various game meats. Frankly, I don't recall what it tasted like. I didn't hate it.
