SoCal native Fremontia

Fremontodendron californicum, commonly called Flannel bush. A SoCal native found in the foothills from Mexico through the Sierras. A shrub up to 10' high. If you catch it at the right time in spring it will be covered with blooms up to 3". This one has aphids on the stamens.
