shadow canyon2 of 2 this trip. The trail from the saddle to the summit was often buried but I managed somehow to stay on it.

My First!I am that friend. Yay first summit!
Thank you Roam Around! That was a gorgeous day.
Next? I think the aches I earned on the slide down are almost better. ;)

#2Took a friend up on her last day in town for her first summit ever! VERY icy trail in shadow canyon - crampons would have been nice.
Great day out!

#191-5-08,1-12-08,3-29-08 The trail was icy in places. I'm glad we had ski poles.
5-10-08, 19th climb of South Boulder. Didn't feel good. Upset stomach, pressed on anyway.

First timeThis was my first climb of South Boulder Peak. Most of the climbs were via Shadow Canyon. Several of the climbs included Bear Peak. After Bear it was common to descend via Fern Canyon.

Flat Iron Triple PlayStarted at the South Mesa Trailhead, hiked up the Shadow Canyon Trail and then summited South Boulder Peak, then backtracked and hiked up Bear Peak. From there headed down the West Ridge trail and hiked up Green Mountain. Finished the hike by hiking down to Chautauqua Meadows. About 9 miles with snow on the ground. Nice hike on a nice post Thanksgiving day.

Shadow CanyonHiked up here while I was helping my sister move from Boulder to Moscow, Idaho. Ran into lots of people using this as a daily running route. Such people are more fit than I am.

Mesa Trail/Shadow CanyonA quick outing with a couple friends. Nice climb to the top, but views were lacking today - overcast. The mini scramble at the top was a nice treat. We hit Bear Peak next.

Traverse from Bear PeakAwesome views from Long's to Pikes. No reason not to go there once you're already on Bear. Again, could have done without the killer gnats.

Bear-S. Boulder-Bear-Green traverse"Stuck" out here on a business trip, gosh-darn. First hike in CO, and 'twas a great day. Snow on 98% of the trail, firm enough except the west side of Green, which was a post-holing nightmare. Weather looked like it was going to come in and sock me, but at every potential bail-out point on my loop, it didn't get any closer. Beautiful day bottom to top.

Shadow CanyonNice hike, though I am always amazed at how this and Bear peak both take it out of me. I had to take a few breaks along the way, but loved the views from the top. Some dark clouds were moving in making for a great contrast.

Perfect Day For ItShadow Canyon was free of ice and snow. Snow on S. Boulder Peak itself, but wet enough yet even packed trail could be easily step-kicked. Hardly any wind coming over the saddle. Was looking at ridge run to Shirt Tail Peak. Don't know if it's possible, but looked like OK route from top of S. Boulder Pk.
