South Couloir Face

Mike Byorick on the rock face of Mt Woodrow Wilson's South Couloir. The snow in the couloir was rotten and was only a thin veneer over hard ice so eventually we bailed out and ascended the couloir's rock face. The rock was not much better. Bonney's guide book had this route seriously under rated; perhaps their rating was accurate under optimum conditions but this climb was certainly under conditions that were less than optimum. A sudden thunderstorm & blizzard made it more a more difficult ascent.
