Typical Oregon Volcano Trail
My third Sister, 50 years after topping the Middle and 14 years after do the Gnarly Northy. This is a good introduction to Cascade volcano hiking, and even enjoyable if you've been doing it for 50 years!

Despite the elevation gain, I figured in advance that this would be one of the lesser interesting peaks during this big peakbagging weekend. I was correct; the route was very straightforward and terrain I had experienced multiple times on other mountains. I much moreso enjoyed Mount Thielsen and Gearhart Mountain, during the previous two days.
I left in dark pre-dawn hours just so I would be back to the car by early morning. The weather was great but it was COLD. I wanted to head back to Washington in time for my daughter's swimming lesson that night. (I made it!)
This was the seventh and final Top 100 Oregon peak I summited during a 3-1/2 day timeframe.

Climbed and Skied
...in a complete whiteout. The weather in Oregon/Washington has been terrible for the past two weeks. The route is in from the road to the summit though. If you can get some good weather this would be a great climb/ski.

We crossed a short snowfield on our way up in the dark, but by the time we descended, it had melted.
The scree in the last few hundred feet was the worst, but totally worth it. Great area.

Fun climb
Nice easy trail for about 2/3 of the way and then lots and lots of scree. Would actually classify it as a moderate climb only because of the round trip distance of 12 miles.
