4x4 road FS184 now permanently closed (Hike/Horse only now)

Didn’t make it to top since we were not aware that the 4x4 road is now closed. This adds an extra 2.2 miles roundtrip to the hike since you now must start at FS road.
Also - no parking spaces available at trailhead. 1 small pullout available for 1 vehicle but otherwise it’s a 1/4 mile hike up FS184 road from the trailhead. This road was open in 2022 but must have permanently closed later that year.

South Ridge  Sucess!

CMC hike. We started from the 11080 trailhead. The leader wanted his truck as light as possible when driving through Beaver Creek, so we forded the stream in our bare feet. That water was cold! Otherwise, it was an easy hike with some great scenery. Clouds rolled in as we descended, but we didn't get rained on.

Complete solitude  Sucess!

Terrific hike up the South Ridge route. We saw zero humans the entire day (including from the summit), although we did see the elk herd and a nearly invisible ptarmigan. We missed the road fork on the way down, as cautioned against - pay attention!

We car-camped about 100 yards below the 4WD trailhead - quiet and beautiful.

A couple of points on the directions:
- We never saw the Nordic Center - probably distance from the corner of 4th & Beaver Creek would be more useful (it's 4-5 mi but we didn't measure)
- FS 413 is either not marked or not prominently - related issue
- If you pick your hiking route carefully you can almost completely avoid talus except for the last 100 vertical feet.
