Terrific scramble with "pick your own" route options staying high and enjoying Class 4 on solid stone. Sure beat the fresh snow and ice on the moraine!
Vertigo Soul and I ascended this fun little scramble while waiting for the weather to clear to climb Swiss Arete on Mt. Sill.
While the climb itself isn't much, it's hard to find a better view from any summit in the Sierra. Both the north and south Palisades stretched out before you. Beautiful. A good one to tag if you have time after doing Mt. Sill.
Descended this route after coming up the East face. Great fun and, as others have noted, fairly spicy if you stick to the crest.
Great area of the Sierra
Instead of the Yellow Brick Road, did the SW Ridge following along the very top of the ridge (the Yellow Brick Road travels generally below the top of the ridge on the right). This route includes a lot of fun 4th Class, with occassional short, low Class 5 sections. You get a good number of chimneys and places to use mantles and stemming. The granite is tightly put together and feels wonderful. Did this route on consecutive days I liked it so much.
It's mostly 3d Class, but you can get yourself some 4th Class pretty easily, especially if you veer toward the top of the ridge.
