If it's only age, well, that's just a number. I'm in my fifties right now and have been called an old mountaineer (I'm in denial about that). Provided I stay healthy and in good shape, I reckon that I've got some 10 to 20 years of serious climbing in me.
As for Lyskamm, traversing it someday is on my wish list too. Then again, I've got lots of ideas and wishes, so I have to make choices. Usually that's based on what I can find the time and, unless it's something I can solo, the right partner for.
Well said: Age is only a number. I´m not feeling too old even if I´m facing 54 this year but fact is: on Swiss / Valais mountain huts my partner and I are among the "old ones" now.
I, too, hope for 10 to 20 more years of hiking and climbing even if 20 more years meens getting 74 years old ....
