Climbed up the southeast ridge from the divide between Betty and Goat Lake as a side trip from our big day hike loop starting from the Broad Canyon TH - definitely a long day! A good amount of loose rock made even worse by making the mistake of going a little to the left of the ridge (don't go that way, it sucks). The views as you finally crest the summit are as much of an out-loud WOW moment as I've ever seen in Idaho though. Worth it!
Came in via Jarvis trail. Having done the loop from the Baptie Lake side before, i preferred this direction much better even if it is a little bit longer. Elevation gain from the trailhead was steady and comfortable. Dropped a pack and extra gear on the saddle and made a "run" for the summit under a cloud that threatened to change our plans. However, all went well. Good fun!
Packed into Baptie Lake on July 4 and summited Standhope from the saddle above Goat Lake. Fun scramble up the ridge. Fantastic views!

Southeast Ridge
A super fun and straightforward scramble. Views from the summit were fantastic - mtn ranges and recognizable peaks in all directions. The view across Fall Crk into Angel Lake was incredible. Could not find a summit register! Most memorable: at Baptie Lake that morning, we had a (hopefully) once in a lifetime experience when a wolverine loped into our camp during breakfast. Fortunately, it left without incident. It was seen again later that morning at Goat Lake doing somersaults down a snowbank.

Great Area
Hiked Broad Canyon Trail to Goat Lake, then headed up to saddle between Goat & Betty. Followed the SE Ridge to the top. Killer views of the Pios, Lost Rivers & White Clouds. Made it a loop hike by taking the Jarvis Trail back to the car.

Southeast Ridge
Lots of snow. XC last 2 miles through the snow. Goat lake totally covered. Ridge was easy scramble until 2oo ft below top where I detoured onto steep snow instead of climbing difficult step. Then finally fun class 3 last bit. Spectacular view of Pioneers at good altitude.
Packed in to Baptie Lake with my wife and climbed Standhope via the Southeast Ridge. Great scramble and great views all the way to the top! The rock was really solid the whole way.

Nice area
Scrambled up the ridge from the Goat Lake/ Betty Lake saddle. Its steep but mainly class 2 other than maybe a little easy, but loose, class 3 right at the top. I highly recommend this area which is one of the more scenic areas of Idaho.

In Utero
From the Wildhorse Canyon area to Surprise Valley, my expecting wife and I backpacked in. I scrambled to the summit from this camp through wildflowers and mountain goat hair stuck on the brush.

Southwest Ridge
Backpacked in to Baptie Lake the day before. Left camp the next morning and climbed through the loose rock above Goat Lake before making it to the saddle between Standhope and Peak 11887'. Climbed 11887’ first (very cool), then dropped back down to the saddle and made the scramble up Standhope. My hiking partners were waiting for me on the summit after they’d climbed the southeast ridge. Trip Report
