Stegall Mountain Glade

Stegall Mountain Glade

Glades such as these in the Ozarks create semi-arid micro-habitats that support various species you wouldn't expect to see in the South. This one is a reintroduction site for the eastern collared lizard, normally associated with Arizona and northern Mexico. March 2010.

Re: Glades.

They remind me of the balds in your neck of the woods, Bob, as a distinctive local ecosystem.
