Stegall Mountain Glade

Glades such as these in the Ozarks create semi-arid micro-habitats that support various species you wouldn't expect to see in the South. This one is a reintroduction site for the eastern collared lizard, normally associated with Arizona and northern Mexico.

Those Ozark glades are actually pretty unique ecosystems.

They remind me of the balds in your neck of the woods, Bob, as a distinctive local ecosystem.
