"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Untitled CommentThanks! It's a nice little peak. People don't realize how imposing it can be until they get right up on it. You can see it from all over the Atlanat Piedmont area, but you don't realize how massive it is until you're a mile or so away. And climbing it is quite a nice experience.

Untitled CommentWell written in a "balanced" style (although I like your opinion). My friend has climbed this mountain numerous times when he visits Atlanta for work. I was unaware it was also a circus. Amazing, though. That is one big ROCK!

Untitled CommentBob, I used to live in Atlanta. Would carry my girls on my shoulders up this mountain every chance we got. I would train on it as well. Thanks for a great page. They have fond memories of Stone Mountain. Cheers!

You're right, they're very similar. My nephew visited Enchanted Rock and was impressed with it. Some really radical exfoliation going on there, he says. Huge sheets of granite shearing off and sliding down the faces.

Rock ClimbingIs there any rock climbing permitted on the mountain? If not, the Corporation that owns it should set something up...as long as their exploiting it.
BobSmith - Nov 2, 2006 10:10 pm - Hasn't voted
Nope.No rock climbing allowed, as far as I'm aware. I've been scrambling around the mountain, but I've never seen anyone rock climbing there. It's a great dome, but the area is totally screwed up.

Benchmark picture?Anyone have a shot of the benchmark up there on Stone's summit?
I took one but can not find it. I have a special pic collection
of benchmarks in my personal files and I would be very appreciative of anyone who might be able to share their shot with me. Thanks...

Re: Benchmark picture?I don't have one, but I'll try to get a shot. I'm probably going to visit my niece who lives just a couple miles from the mountain. If I do, we'll take a hike up the mountain to find the benchmark.
Of course, anyone here who has such a shot is welcome to post it.
