Early morning sun cresting the northeast ridge of Mount Merritt (summit at upper right). Taken during our ascent from Mokowanis Lake. We are actually a little off route here; we should be at a slightly lower elevation. The route up the loose northwest slope beings at the snow patches left of center near a large cliff. Class III ledges and gullies lead the way to the skyline, where the northeast ridge is gained.
