Brighton Ridge 5-Peak Traverse
Hiked the Brighton Ridge to Millicent, Woverine, Tuscarora, Sunset Peak, and Pioneer Peak. Tremendous fun! Millicent's NE ridge is easy snow hiking. Wolverine/Tuscarora is easy snow hiking as well. Sunset is a bit harder because there is a Class 3/4 rock spine in the middle of the ridge. I chose to bypass the rock spine onto a 38 degree, north facing slope which brought me back onto the ridge. Only use that bypass under total stable snow conditions. Pioneer Peak was a beast. 3' snow drifts on the ridge about every 20 feet. Hiking down off of Pioneer was 2' of soft powder all the way to Brighton. Good workout! Views are oustanding. Highly recommended.
Best way to get away from the crowds on the Catherine Pass trail, though why people tend to avoid the steep bits, I'll never understand!

Nice easy hike with great views of Timp, the uinta's and a strange dead on view of the cottonwood Ridge. Nice to take beginner hikers on the Brighton Ridge Run

Rain and sleet on Sunset Peak
Last day of a three day trip and this hike was good since the weather was threatening. The clouds were coming up the valley from Albion Basin and three steps from the summit I felt rain. It was pouring rain two minutes later and sleeting five minutes after that. I came down fast in steady rain and near the Catherine Pass trailhead lightning started. I was very uncomfortable walking under a chairlift with lightning nearby. I found out later planes were flipped in Provo from a microburst about the time I was on top. Very scenic and I'll do this again (weather permitting).

Perfect teaser for the Wasatch
Not like I would knowwhat the rest of the Wasatch are like to climb but the skiing is awsome! this is the ultimate wife peak with a view! We climbed from Alta, The lake side views from Brighton would be more interesting.

Climbed a lot
I first climbed it as part of a college hiking class in the late '90s. July 29,2006: I must have been crazy because we went up to Catherine Pass on a HOT Saturday morning (the crowds are why I usually avoid popular destinations in the Wasatch on Saturdays). 12 minutes from there to the top, and 9 minutes back to the pass. August 31, 2008: Started run at Big Water in Millcreek, rounded Dog Lake+Desolation Lake, reached turnaround at summit, returned via GWT+MillCreek. Got wet just before the end of the trip.

Via Catherine Pass / Alta
Went up the canyon with a friend and started walking. Didn't really plan on much, as I was in flip-flop sandals. We made it to the summit in around 50 minutes and back down in 25. No more hiking in flip flops, though I got lucky this time.
This was a far more enjoyable summit than I expected. My favorite of all the easy peaks I have done so far.
Route Climbed: Catherine Pass Trail Date Climbed: August 2005
It was a great hike, quite easy and a lot to see, especially the wildflowers in the Albion Basin. The trail were sandy in parts, and it reminded me of walking on a beach. It was lightning and raining but when we ascended the summit, it stopped. We were able to eat lunch on the summit and were visited by local residents, chipmunks looking for hand-me-down food!
Route Climbed: East and West Ridges, Brighton Ridge Run Date Climbed: August 25, 2005
This was the only mountain on the Brighton Ridge Run where I saw people on the top. It's a popular peak because of the short climb up from Catherine Pass.

I climbed this for the first time with my Grandson. We went on to Pioneer Peak, returned the same way so we summited it twice from two different directions. We went on to do Tuscarora and Wolverine. Makes for a lot of peak-bagging in one day. These are easy summits in close proximity to each other but this doesn't necessarily make experience any less enjoyable.
I've climbed this peak many times, dating back to when I was a kid.
My last trip was with my father and my five year old son on July 21 2007. From Brighton, we went up to Cathrine Pass and over the top of Sunset Peak, Pioneer Peak, and the Pioneer Ridge, returning back to Brighton.
