"Swallow Rocks North Peak"

A moose on the summit of "Swallow Rocks North Peak" (Point 8580). I don't know who was more surprised, me or the moose. The very top of the peak is open, but is behind a huge rock, and then some trees, so you don't see it until you are right there. Neither of us knew the other was there until we were a few yards apart. She had been lying down and got up quickly and took off. November-24-2012

AWESOME!!!

I love these animals. We have walked around the corner in CO to find ourselves face to face with a moose. It was a startling experience, but the moose didn't seem to mind us much

Thank you! Mooses are just about my favorite animal. I see them a lot here in Utah. Sometimes they just won't budge off of a trail.

Thank you! I thought it turned out surprisingly well given I had 3 seconds to whip my camera out and shoot it. By the time I got another shot off she was already on the other side of the ridge and the only part of her that was in the picture was the tippy top of the hump on her back.
