Been looking at these for years ....
7 bridges approach. Tried a feel out a route heading NE from Louds Cabin, gaining first ridge east of there, and following that countour around to the Crags. Some pretty rough bushwhacking on the east side of that first ridge, and some scrambling through other crags on the approach, but otherwise very doable. Took the old standard trail down to 666 and then linked back up with Captain Jacks to return via 7 Bridges.
Saw one other group of two on summit.

Scrambled up, trail down
Great views!
Scrambled up from the south slopes as I didn't know where the trail was. Found the trail near the top, made the summit despite some graupel falling. Then descended on the trail. Very well cairned. Easy to follow the trail, and now that I know where it is, I'll definitely be back!

First time up Tenney Crags. Summit views made the awful approach worth it!

From Section 16 TH
Started around 9AM. Foggy day with light snow along the route, progressively getting up to 6 inches near the top. There is kind of a route that branches off the Section 16 trail, but it is very faint. Basically gone about half a mile from the top. Excellent views at top as I was now above the clouds. Back at car around 1:45PM.
Went up the bear creek trail to the faint trail head for the crags. Followed cairns all the way to the summit.Awesome!

Awesome Mountain
...Terrible hike.
Got lost several times, Made a full loop around Kineo, followed cairns to a rock yard on East side, dangerous stuff, but I still tried. Made it, 10 miles RT, The view was worth it though.

TENNEY
Hiked this peak twice! Both times I started at the parking above Helen hunt falls. The first time I bushwacked up the south ridge from bear creek, and buckhorn trail.I will never do that again! (VERY ROUGH) The second time me and my wife took the trail to the top. (GREAT VIEWS)

Standard Buckhorn / Bear Creek / Social Trail
Hands DOWN this peak offers up a lot of bang for the buck. The views from up high are stunning. Why this peak isn't swarmed with folks is anyone's guess. Just amazing. I love the grassy lounging area just below the summit rocks - great place to get out of the wind and enjoy lunch!

from Cap'n Jacks
Summited via the cairned trail that heads north off of Cap'n Jacks (667). Lost the trail near the top and worked my way around until finding a suitable way up.

A long day
After climbing Mt Garfield and Mt Arthur the bushwack to Tenney Crags was not fun at all; very rough terrain. The summit area of Tenney's was great, lots of rocks to play on and two benchmarks for some reason. I was very thankful when I found a carin and a faint trail when I started down. I was tired of bushwacking.

30 years later...
I climbed this peak back in 1975. My nephew, home from college, and I decided it would make a good goal for a day hike. We left the Bear Creek Trail too early, and had to free-lance our way over some minor summits to the true summit. It was a beautiful sunny day although there was some snow on the ground down in the trees. I did not find a register this time.
I was surprised to find a faint trail with cairns leading all the way to the summit from Bear Creek Canyon. I had been expecting a long and steep bushwack. Great views from the summit!
