A very nice day with a great view on Monte Rosa group!!
normal route from val d'ayas
I started in Champoluc on the morning of July 31st, 1985 and went via Cunéaz and Colle di Pinter up to the Bivacco Ulrich Lateltin on Punta Pinter (3123 metres). Here the weather turned, so I simply stayed there that afternoon and spent the night there. There was nobody but me that day up at the bivacco. The following morning was cold but clear, and I went up to the summit. The path I remember as being not difficult at all, except for that "key passage" which a hell of a lot of fuss is made about - with the right "fingering", to use a musician's expression, it can easily be tackled. The view is fantastic, what with the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa massif to the north and Gran Paradiso and even Monviso to the south. I descended straight back to Champoluc in the afternoon.
The weather on the summit was not so good. Unfortanely I didn't see the Monte Rosa group.
Speravamo un gran bel panorama sulle cime del Rosa...invece niente, per causa di nebbione ! Torneremo....
Last time I climbed this beautiful mountain with Ernesto Dorigo, 67 years old, born under Monte Civetta roots ...
Once reached the summit (in less than 4 hours!!!) I heard a deaf sound. I turned myself and I saw Ernesto with a bottle of red wind and a cork in his hand, smiling. From his rucksac he took out a chunk of smoked speck, an excellent knife and he told me: "we have to drink and eat them all before leaving this summit".
Gatorade, what the hell is gatorade?
