Testament to the high winds

Although there is not a road to the top of Black Mountain, there is a small radio tower right near the west summit, installed by helicopter. In the last year or two a winter storm blew it down and ripped it from its foundation. Despite the relative low altitude of the peak, this is a testament to the severe weather that can occur in the Elkhead Mountains. This photo was taken on July 14 2007.
