The Bhagirathi Sisters

The Bhagirathi Sisters

The Bhagirathi group ( from right: BI, 6856 m - BIII, 6454 m - BII, 6512 m ) is one of the most impressive of the Garhwal: imposing but with very elegant shapes. In the last years it has become quite popular among the best climbers, that opened here some of the most extreme routes in the Himalaya. Many new routes have been opened, especially on the terrifying west face of Bhagirathi III, like the Slovenian Route ( ED+ VIII A4 85°,1100 m, Janez Jeglic-Silvo Karo, 1990 ), the Russian route ( VI A4, 1100 m, Vladimir Kachkov-Yuri Koshelenko-Andrei Lukin-Igor Potankin, 1998 ) or the amazing direct route of the South-West pillar ( "Stairway to Heaven", VIII+/XI-,1300 m, Walter Holzer-Jorg Pflugmager, 2004 ). Beyond this mountains there's an almost virgin land that very few men have seen, with a lot of unclimbed and un-named summits.

Awesome!

Beautiful shot and very nicely composed. You should post it to one of the the panorama albums.
