Box Canyon Peaks
Approached via the East Fork, and visited all 4 summits surrounding Box Canyon. Trip Report

Up southwest face, down east ridge
My experience seems different than others because I had solid rock almost the whole way up the SW face. Got loose up top. I hit the south ridge at 11,000--which was perfect because that's just past the end of the towers.
Descended the east ridge and made the connection to 10340 (Long Ridge Peak).

Great day
This peak sits near several headwaters, making it a nice place to view some of the more remote Pioneers. The 'standard' gully (east fork route) is quite loose and I managed to go up a rib a bit past it that was very solid. I got to contrast by going down the gully and would not recommend it. What a gorgeous area!

Beautiful valley, surrounding peaks and views, but really ugly scree slog up the SW slopes. Hands pulling on loose tiny scree for most of this route. Last signature was Splattski. Dropped down and then over to the base of Big Basin Pk- lots of snowfields all around. Sunny, Breezy 65F.

1st Winter Ascent
Cold, windy, snowy, brutal, miserable, and fun! Saw 5 mountain goats, lost one water bottle, and got to "practice" self arrest. Fantastic view! Climbed with Splattski and Rob.

good Pioneer views
quick trip up the Southwest Face if you can drive to the end of the road. A bit of loose rock but routefinding is straightforward. Great views all around

Route Climbed: Southwest Face Date Climbed: August20th/05Absolutely gorgeous and rotten rock on this one. It basically took as long to drive in and out of there as it did to climb the thing.
I would suggest hiking poles for the last 900' on loose scree to help.
