The "Cañada de las Siete Lagunas" (2.950 m) has to be crossed to reach La Alcazaba massive. This is an ancient glacier valley between the Mulhacén peak (photo left) and La Alcazaba mountain (photo right shows the subsidiary peaks) where the ice has disappeared long time ago, leaving the morreine and seven alpine lakes behind. It is one of the most beautiful places in Sierra Nevada, specially in June, where the alpine flora is flourishing. This is a perfect camping spot (permit is needed) due to its strategic position half way between the two big peaks and the presence of fresh water. December 8th 2005.
