The Citadel

The Citadel

Late light just barely catching the top of the Edge of Time Arete on the Citadel's huge north face. As a scrambler hoping to push into more technical ascents, it's dreams of big, wild, remote routes like this that really get me excited and motivated to get after it. Doesn't look like there's even a page for the Citadel yet, if all goes to plan I should be able to put one up by the end of this year. Photo taken from near my camp at the top of the slabs dropping down into LeConte canyon, where I staged for a climb of Devils Crag #1 (also visible peaking over the Citadel's east ridge on the left), one of the wild, remote scrambles I'd been dreaming about for a while until getting on it this past summer.

Classic Sierra!

Looks like one of those classic early paintings of the back country. Perfect lighting and the peaks look majestic.

Re: One needs to.....

Thanks, really glad you like it! Hard not to take a decent photo with the kind of "you gotta be kidding me" scenery that the Sierra can dish out.

Re: Great shot

Hopefully its giving you more excitement for future trips than heartache that they're too far away!
