The Honey Mushrooms

Armillaria mellea: The Honey Mushroom grows only on live or dead trees. It appears in large clusters on wood in the fall after rains in the Low Beskid. Its color varies from yellowish-brown to reddish-brown.The Honey Mushroom is edible and considered tasty by many. Note that some people suffer digestive upsets from this mushroom. It is best to parboil the mushrooms to remove toxins and discard the water before adding the mushrooms to other ingredients. The Low Beskid - Forest near Black Creek - October 2007
