The Horizon of the Kahiltna Glacier

June 4th, 2008 - The Kahiltna Glacier was so large and flat that as we climbed up the glacier, peaks downslope disappeared behind the horizon. This made the descent psychologically taxing as you walked seemingly forever towards the endless horizon, and slowly peaks would begin to rise up out of the snow as you neared KIA (Kahiltna International Airport).
