The Koetzfels Tower by Obersteinbach

The Koetzfels Tower by Obersteinbach

This is one of the most wild and isolate sandstone formations, for all the Northern Vosges. Located in the south-west from Obersteinbach, the Koetzfels apparts at the Steinbacher Wintersberg massive (or main mountain). At his highest summit, the altitude reaches something like 422 meters. Not bad. The Koetzfels is a very savage climbing tower, which was already climbed at the beginning of the 1900's years, by Mr Koetz (a very famous climber). The are unfortunately no rings or bolts, for climbing here, at the Koetzfels : the site is almost unknown and there's any marked path for going here ... The site is deeply hidden, in the heart of a junglual forest ! But, from the highest platform of the tower (her summit ! ), you will have a magnificient and legendar panorama, on a infinited " canopy ocean " ... From here, when the weather is clear and degaged, you can see Pirmasens and the Palatinate (Eppenbrunn's sector). The eolians of Vinningen are visible from here ! This site of Koetzfels is exceptionnaly good preserved and quiet ! For the instance, is with a big and welcoming chance, the summit of this tower, reachable with a wood ladder : very good, excellent this ... To see absotutely and to visit, as fast as possible, if you can of course ! On the summit of this climbing tower, you can find a summit-book, used by the climbers, for writing their names and their dates of ascensions.
