Je mi velmi lito, Liba

On the bright side, one might say she died with her hiking boots on her paws.

Thank to you Liba,...

she had a life full of adventure by your side. I'm sure that was all she needed for a good life.

Duchess will be missed.

SP hero

Beautiful dog, your beloved companion Liba and true Summitpost legend we all knew from your pics so well :) I am sure she's already roaming happy, high up there, across heavenly ridges and polonynas... where we all meet one day.

Sorry

Sorry for your loss. Our pups can often be our best trail companions! Hang in there!

Great Duchess!

I've learned something about the amazing devotion dogs can have as a true friend in the mountains from Duchess.
Now we have all the shots from all the trips to remember her.
She must be in a bright place perhaps among the peaks.

Sorry to hear about Duchess!

I had a feeling as soon as I saw the picture that she was gone. I hate being right!

Thanks for sharing her with us over the years!

A Good Life

Take solace in the fact that she lived a long, good life enjoying the outdoors and good companionship. That's all any of us can hope for.

Odpočívej v pokoji, Duchess.

My sincerest condoleances with your great loss, Liba.

It is good to hear that it went quick and that she was active until the very end. Danteke is approaching thirteen herself and she still goes out with us, and yesterday she actually managed to get a cat in our backyard (didn't hurt it, just scared the bejeesus out of the feline) - and one thing I fear the most is that she'll get in poor health and her last few years won't be that great, dogs deserve better than that.

Doggy (not style) Poem ....

Doggy, Doggy, now she's gone ...

All dogs go to heaven, 'cause they can't do no wrong.

Peace is the answer, but for dog's we fight,

Now Fido, brush your teeth, and I wish you
good night.

Deepest sympathies

Liba, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Dutchess. I have long enjoyed seeing photos of her on so many of the mountains we love. You were often so kind as to provide info for me to take my dogs up some of those mountains. My Sopris died the Day after New Years 2014, and when I saw the photo of Dutchess' last camping trip it brought memories flooding back of our last camping trip. You have my deepest sympathies. May her memories always give you comfort. And having a mountain dog like her, a climbing companion, you gave her a dog life the likes so few dogs will ever know. She had to have had one of the best dog lives ever. Jon

Re: Deepest sympathies

thank you Jon… hard to write back and hard to actually read comments. Sorry, to those folks I did not answer…. I hear her at home, I look for her when I get home from work… She was not a dog to me, but more of a companion to me… Thank you… and sorry about loosing Sopris….

Sad...

to hear that she died, and indeed, dogs should live much longer. Over time, I've lost three dogs to cancer. All dogs were adopted. Now we have our fourth dog, a golden retriever, and he's adopted, too, 7 years ago. I've got so much love from all our dogs, it's beyond words.

I hope you find strength in all those nice memories you have of the time together with Duchess.

And thanks for posting all those great Duchess pics, I've always enjoyed them a lot!

My sincere condoleances,
Jan

Oh my God!

It's only this evening that I discovered this picture of yours, with the sad news...Dear Liba, I'm so sorry!!! It must be very painful for you at the moment, having lost such a dear, faithful and beloved companion...I'm thinking of you, and may Duchess' soul rest in peace and serenity.

Eric
