In memoriam

Dr William Inglis Clark, who took this lovely photo, was one of the many great Scottish mountaineers. Tower Ridge is one of the most significant routes on Ben Nevis, which is the heart and soul of Scottish mountaineering - and of British mountaineering when they let us climb there.

William Clark climbed to a high standard on the Ben, taking part in important exploration and development. He was Secretary and then President of the Scottish Mountaineering Club for many years - the apex of the mountaineering Pyramid of The Right Stuff.

Among Dr Clark's many services to mountaineering was his building of the CIC climbing hut at the foot of the Ben in memory of his son, Charles Inglis Clark, killed on active service with the British Army in 1919 in Iraq. Lest we forget.......

Thanks for your comment, I hadn't realised Charles Inglis Clark had died as late as 1919. Sad times...
