the "trail"
There is a trail across this pahoehoe lava. Well, not exactly a beaten in one. More like a discernible worn surface where most people have walked the easiest line between the navigation beacons. You've got fully 2.5 miles of this stuff to negotiate. It can be easy by day (I think Michelle and I got across it in 40 minutes) but slow by night (it took twice as long going back). March 8, 2007.
