Yikes!

So, how did the ol knees hold up for that descent. I remember looking down into the Lincoln Creek area from the summit of Grizzly and thinking that it looked real far down to the valley floor. This photo just confirms it. BTW- Thanks for adding this interesting route. How did you come up with this route?

Re: Yikes!

I just read your trip report..nice work. I had a feeling you were staying or living in Aspen. Getting Grizzly from Lincoln Creek kind of gave me the impression you were staying in Aspen. Not many people know of that route you chose for Grizzly. But I remember hearing about it often when I lived in Aspen for 5 years. I remember a bunch of guys would ski that couloir every spring and bring back great stories to tell.

Whenever I see that lake it reminds me of the following...

In May of 97 my friend and I were hiking through the snowcovered talus field around Grizzly Lake and he post-holed through and cut his knee open pretty bad on a rock. It was to the bone! We tied it off and managed to make it back to Ruby Resevoir before we hitched a ride to Aspen Valley Hospital. We still joke about that day..Live and learn...
