Looking west from the top of Eiler Butte across the Thousand Lakes Valley towards the crater rim of the Thousand Lakes Volcano. The line of trees climbing past the base of Crater Peak on the right marks the breach of the crater rim and the path of the ancient glacier that formed Everett and Magee Lakes. The glacial moraines are clearly visible on either side of the crater walls. The clearings in the forest belong to the larger lakes of the Thousand Lakes Valley. Oct2012.
