those look like...Some of the shrubs look like "Mountain Mahogany" (see comments to main page).

Trail up Grove Creek
It has a few spots where the trail is a little sketchy and for this reason this trail isn't recommended for horses (a sign at the beginning of the trail warns that the trail is hazardous for horses) Overall, this is a great trail, very enjoyable up to the small bridge that crosses Grove Creek.
