Super scenic hike with my son and dog.
The summit of Uncompahgre is AMAZING for a variety of reasons and worth taking the long slog to get up high and enjoy!
Just the standard route, but we faced some high winds above timberline. Climbed with my usual partner, trishpajean. 14er #42 for me, #40 for her. 3 hrs., 50 min. up, 30 min. on the summit, 2 hrs., 30 min. down.
A wonderful climb with my dad while I was in college. Great views!
Great looking peak. Miss my old CJ7.
One of the most beautiful routes I have climbed.
The face was impressive!
From Matterhorn TH 6 hrs combined
Did Sneffels a couple days before this one. Only saw a few people on the trail. Good day - good hike.
Ascended Uncompahgre via the Nellie Creek trailhead for our third 14er of our week long trip to the San Juans. Very enjoyable hike, the crux of the climb before the summit platteau was very enjoyable, i would say stick to the right at this portion. There is more solid rock to be found.
This was my third climb of Uncompahgre. We walked in about half the Nellie Creek road. There was mist on the way up and rain on the way down.
Hiked up from Matterhorn TH and had summit to myself. Unc's north face is very impressive!
First of 14 14ers in 11 days. Nice evening ascent after packing in from Matterhorn Creek.
Climbed Uncompahgre, Handies, and Wetterhorn on consecutive days from our Silver Spur Motel "base camp" in Lake City. The San Juans are amazing! Recommend high clearance 4wd for Nellie Creek Trailhead.
Man, what an awsome day. With only 3,000 gain, this had to be one of the easiest hikes and defenitely the most beautiful. I was the first one to summit, and had the place to myself for about 20 minutes. It was very enlightening.
Great day in the San Juans with my son and climbing partners Alan and Robert. My son and I played catch on the summit to celebrate his 5th and my 29th 14ers.
Started up at 6:10AM and reached the summit at 8:37. Ideal weather conditions though a bit hazy from the Grand Mesa forest fires. Met two nice older gentleman who had each climbed all the 14'ers, very interesting. Left the summit at 9:07 and back to the TH at 11:02. Another beautiful Colorado morning and my 40th 14'er..............sweet!
Fun day. Independence day hike
Beautiful day - a long, wet hike due to meltoff and postholing through remaining snowfields.
Well, not from the summit. We skied from the shoulder at 13,900 all the way to the car(with a few dry spots). I was able to skin up to about 13,600. The class 2+ gully on the west face is completely dry, although you must cross an exposed snowfield to get there. See TR on 14ers.com.
