Utukok Hills
Western Arctic Caribou Herd heading South across the North Slope, preparing to enter the Utukok Hills, on their way into the DeLong Mountains of The Brooks Range.
These animals overwinter 200 miles to the South, on the other side of the Noatak and Kobuk Vallies, in the Bendeleben Mountains, east of Nome, where winds blow snow clear of ridges with lichens.
