Looper
Standard loop from Alvarado TH. Up Comanche, over Spring, to Venable. On my first trip to Colorado in the 1990s, I hiked to Comanche Lake. I've been meaning to do it again and complete this loop for quite a long time. Finally did it!
First: Comanche, Spring and Venable with Scot and Colin, finally started to see a little sun coming off Spring, but mostly it was a snowy and foggy day. Camped along the trail and did 13153 the next day.
Second: 8/8/21 - Smoky loop from trailhead on the east side

The Loop
Approached via Venable Creek. From Venable Lakes I went up Pt 12,873. I ran the ridge over to Venable over to Spring and Comanche. I descended Comanche Creek. Snow was not a problem and I thought Venable Creek was hands down the highlight of the day.

Forever Forest
First time in the Sangres and had excellant weather so wife and I did the Comanche Venable Trail Loop! Seamed like a never ending forest of Aspens then Wham! Large opening in the valley with the mountain peaks just within reach, Beautiful Alpine lakes! Awsome well worth it! Nice view of Westcliff far down below. The Phantom Terrace was a little nervous.

June 2006.... I summited with my Swedish friends Monica and Brigitte from Jersey. Another great day in the mountains with a couple of lovely ladies. They were thrilled!

Via the Phantom TerraceThere was lots of snow on the ridge so we traversed the Phantom Terrace and went up the southwest facing grassy slope.
