Vertainspitze summit panorama to the NW and N

... spanning from 275° to 35°. The nearby peak just right of center is just a foresummit of the Vertainspitze. Partially blocked but right behind it is the Tschenglser Hochwand / Croda di Cengles (3375m). That will be my first goal tomorrow morning. Click on the picture for the original, and you can see the tiny looking Düsseldorfer Hütte deep down in the valley below. I'm planning to spend the night there, and from my current position there are several possible routes. The one that I intend to take is far from straight: I'll go back down the Rosimtal, around the Rosimwände and up the Zaital. That means an additional 400 m elevation gain, but because the terrain is fairly easy it will still be faster than any of the more direct routes, and more importantly, much safer. 28 Aug 2014.
