When having problems with climbing through the centre of Hińczowy couloir, I returned back, red your hint carefully and noticed a cairn on the left-hand side of it. Fortunately, the scree was not wet even during my way back (tough descent from Cubryna:)
Hahaha, I though I might be able to climb its top, but I did NOT dare to overcome the final crag. That´s why I decided to stay about 20 meters below the top of Cubryna, although the weather was excellent - no rucksack on my back. But I have to admit, that this was one of the most challenging scrambling routes I have ever did:).
It seems you made the right decision. I've read a couple of TRs saying that the final stretch of the normal route is underrated. One party even decided to rappel a few dozen metres down the Slovak side to avoid that stretch during descent.
