Drove out to Mount Riley from El Paso, TX this morning., about a 45 minute drive. The road to the base of the mountain was in good condition. Did not hike up the mountain but hiked around the base and enjoyed the views and all the cacti. Very desolate and quiet out here. We parked at a small parking area along the county road. We then proceeded to walk up the wash towards the base of the mountains. There were many interesting stones and cacti along our walk. The climbing a short way up the mountain before deciding to turn around a walk back down. There is not really a trail and you will have to climb through a lot of loose rocks. The views out here are breathtaking.
