The Summit Pose

In Idaho we affectionately call it the "Splattski" out of great respect to him. The rule of the pose is a person in the photo has to be the one taking the picture. (Arm Extension) Another note is that most of the Splattski's are summit shots.

If you have pictures that look like these, we would love for you to add them to this album!

Here is an article on "How To Take Splattski's":

The Splattski

thought it was a cold war era NATO designation for one of those soviet passenger jets hehehe.

Re: The Splattski

Well since I am a cold war veteran and know all the terminology, NO we had other names for those...LOL (I can’t say on here, too naughty).

But Splattski definitely has an explanation of how the name came about.

Re: The Splattski

So how exactly did the name come about?? And, are you going to open this up to the general public to attach their "Splattskis?"

Re: The Splattski

YES, but it has to be a splattski, it has to be an arm extension summit shot.

Re: The Splattski

Steve, you gotta enable others to attach (there's some switch you set on the page) if you want to open this up to the public attachments.

Re: The Splattski

I think I see a few that don't look like they're from a summit (although I could be wrong and often am). I'm thinking I don't have any "splattski's" from a summit but perhaps from somewhere lower down but I still can't attach them. Did you release the album to allow others to attach?

Re: The Splattski

I have special privileges cuz I suggested posting splattskis in the first place, delta has privileges too for setting it up and, the IdahoSummits core group, because they've been taking these shots forever. So, there just might be a very few exceptions...So for the record that's my son and future daughter in law at Yellowstone National Park. :-)

Re: Dang Funny!

Thanks Steve, I feel like an "honorary" Idahoan. Well, my dad was born in Arco and my grandma came from Sugar City (she was very sweet too). I have a "secret" Splattski tucked away HERE.

Re: Dang Funny!

I will make it a point to add. By the way, I lived in Idaho in my younger years. My dad bought the Monteview Merc, a grocery store in Monteview back in 1972. Do you know where thats at? Not many do, even Idahoans.
