This was our first outing of the year, great weather forecast, but no summit this time...actually the third time giving this familiar scramble peak a try for Nick and myself. 15 years ago, my son and I did it in a day during the summer. The last three attempts were during these transitional periods.  No snow for the first mile from the trailhead. No footprints anywhere we traveled. It would have been kind of cool to be the first team this year. We got to the summit scramble Sunday, May 30 with just a little bit too much snow and ice on the steeper route, at least that was our excuse.  We had a great couple of days, tried out our old legs, coming away with another satisfying outing despite the summit disappointment. Just thought I would send out some pics and hope other Washington climbers would contribute to this great site.
